Program Details

SOAR is a cancer focused research opportunity built around the Summer Research Program. It aims to give students an interdisciplinary and interprofessional perspective on cancer care and research. The SOAR program accomplishes this by implementing a research education program that focuses on instilling a new framework for interdisciplinary and interprofessional patient-centered oncological care.

General Overview:

Each student will conduct interdisciplinary cutting-edge cancer research with a strong mentorship by established NIH funded investigators in our Comprehensive Cancer Center or the Center for Global Health. We accept students with a variety of cancer related project types, with an international or local focus.

In addition, students will take part in formal instruction on responsible conduct in research, didactic lectures on the science of oncology, interdisciplinary tumor boards, research skill development, and career planning activities. Opportunities for career exploration, networking, and outreach will also take place and will serve to increase students’ knowledge of cancer, and motivate them to pursue further education and training for future careers as cancer researchers.
