AQM Procedures

For doctoral students at the University of Chicago who are interested in pursuing a Certificate in Advanced Quantitative Methods, the Committee on Quantitative Methods in Social, Behavioral, and Health Science aims to support your intellectual pursuit. The Committee organizes events to build an interdisciplinary peer network and offers guidance as you explore courses, research and teaching opportunities, and career prospects.

As a first step, please complete and submit the Express of Interest form. Your responses will be automatically added to a central repository of students who share interests in quantitative methods training, research, and teaching. You will subsequently receive AQM-related information including invitations to events.

Then, in each subsequent year, you are required to complete and submit the Annual Progress Report to Yanyan Sheng (yysheng@uchicago.edu), copying your academic advisor(s), by the end of the academic year (June 15). This form is designed to support your progress in this program.

Once you have completed all the requirements for the certificate, please fill out the Completion form and send to Yanyan Sheng (yysheng@uchicago.edu) for final approval. The Committee will verify that you have satisfied the requirements for the certificate and will notify your Dean of Students, who will then ask the Registrar to include the certificate on the student’s official transcript.
