Graduate students Andy Anderson (second from left) and Kierstin Webster (third from left) received awards for their top-scoring poster presentations at Chicago Diabetes Day. This annual event is sponsored by the University of Chicago’s Diabetes Research & Training Center and Kovler Diabetes Center.

During their presentations, Andy demonstrated that “Beta cells adapt to insulin resistance via posttranslational modification of the translation factor elF5A”, meanwhile Kierstin discussed “Sex differences in human islet transcriptional responses to inflammation.”
