The MAPSS program and the History Department are very pleased to invite you to a lecture by visiting exchange scholar Prof. Paolo Capuzzo on September 30 from 4:30-6:00 in Social Sciences 224Prof. Capuzzo’s lecture, “Learning from the past? Markets and consumption in the three 20th European Postwar Periods” will work backwards from the Cold War at the regulation of markets and consumer patterns in the two other 20th century postwar period. The purpose is to understand how the decision-making was influenced by the lessons of the past, by changes in consumers’ attitudes, and by the overall change of the economic and political global contexts.Paolo Capuzzo is professor of Contemporary History at the University of Bologna. His current main research areas are Italian consumption history, narratives of the world history, history and critical theory (Gramsci).The reception following the lecture and discussion will provide an opportunity not just to eat and drink but to get to know your colleagues in the MAPSS and History Programs.
