Dear Colleagues,

Please join the Transnational Approaches to Modern Europe Workshop next Wednesday, May 18th from 4:30-6:00 pm CST for our sixth and final session of Spring Quarter 2022. We are excited to have Samuel Clowes Huneke, Assistant Professor at George Mason University, to give a talk on his recent publication, States of Liberation: Gay Men between Dictatorship and Democracy in Cold War Germany. Lauren Stokes, Assistant Professor at Northwestern University, will serve as the respondent.

Our meeting this week will be held in the John Hope Franklin room, #224 in the Social Sciences Research Building. If you are not a UChicago affiliate but would like to join us for this workshop, please be in touch with either ehoffenberg@uchicago.edu or mradams@uchicago.edu so that we are able to ensure your access to the building. Professor Huneke’s book is available for purchase at the Seminary Co-op.

We are also pleased to announce that we will be hosting a dinner directly after the workshop at 6:00 pm in the John Hope Franklin room. RSVP by email by tomorrow, Friday, May 13th if you are interested in staying for dinner, and please let us know if you have any dietary preferences. There will be a cap of 15 people for the dinner and responses will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week!

Best regards,
