Ofer Ashkenazi @ TAMEW on January 31

Dear colleagues,

We’re looking forward to seeing you all this upcoming Wednesday for another workshop session of Transnational Approaches to Modern Europe. We will be discussing an article by Ofer Ashkenazi, Associate Professor of History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, entitled “Home as a Symbol of Migration: The Optimistic Melancholy of the Meyer Family’s Photo Album.” Professor Leora Auslander, Associate Chair, Department of Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity and Arthur and Joann Rasmussen Professor of Western Civilization in the College and the Departments of Race, Diaspora & Indigeneity and History will serve as discussant. This will be a joint session with the Jewish Studies workshop.

The workshop session will take place on Wednesday, January 31st, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, in the John Hope Franklin Room (SSRB 224).

Professor Ashkenazi’s paper is now available under the heading “Current Paper.” As always, we are available at rceb@uchicago.edu and tgoldsmith@uchicago.edu to address your questions or concerns.
