5/9 Gregory Valdespino “At Home in Empire”

Hello Colleagues,

I hope you are doing well and enjoying this heavenly weather. It is with great excitement and humility that I invite you all to the next session of the Transnational Approaches to Modern Europe Workshop where Gregory Valdespino, PhD Student in History, will be presenting a draft of his dissertation proposal, “At Home in Empire: Dwelling, Domesticity, and Space in Colonial France and Senegal.” Commentary will be provided by Caroline Sequin, PhD Candidate in History.

The session will take place from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the John Hope Franklin Room (SS 224). The session will be followed by a reception.

The paper is currently available on canvas and the workshop page, in both PdF and Word format. There are also two Appendices on the Canvas site, one of which (Appendix 1) is a rather large file containing images and thus may take some time to load. The size of the file could not be supported on the workshop’s blog, so if you are unable to get this file, or any other parts of the paper,  please contact either of the workshop co-coordinators Gregory Valdespino (gvaldespino@uchicago.edu) or Alexander Herbert (ath459@uchicago.edu).

We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Best,

Greg and Alex
