Please join us for our third EthNoise! Ethnomusicology Workshop meeting, which will take place on Thursday afternoonOctober 30th, from 4:30 to 6, in Goodspeed Hall 205.

Please join us for our second EthNoise! Ethnomusicology Workshop meeting, which will take place on Tuesday afternoon, October 21st, from 4:30 to 6, in Goodspeed Hall 205. Please notice that this is a different day from our canonical time

 

Our speakers will be:

 

Suzi Wint, Ph.D candidate in Ethnomusicology at the University of Chicago 

Her paper is: “Western Art Music in Uganda: A Music of the Other?

 

Eric Martin Usner, Post-Doc in Ethnomusicology at the Department of Music at the University of Chicago.

His paper is: “Maintaining the Center: Western Art Music as a Viennese Cultural Practice.”

EthNoise! Workshop, October 16th!

Please join us for our first 2008/2009 EthNoise! Workshop meeting on Thursday afternoon, October 16th from 4:30 to 6.  

Our speaker will be Dr. Anthony Pecqueux, associate member of the Sociology, History Anthropology of Cultural Dynamics Laboratory in France, and author of the book “Voix du rap. Essai de sociologie de l’action musicale (2007).”

 Our meetings take place on alternate Thursdays from 4:30-6:00 PM in room 205 of the Goodspeed building at the University of Chicago (1010 East 59th Street).
