With over 50 universities under investigation, millions of dollars in funding revoked, and students and scholars facing detainment, a critical question arises: Are we experiencing a sustained assault on academic freedom by the current administration? Why is this happening now and how should higher education respond?

Join us for a discussion on the crisis in academic freedom, featuring Greg Lukianoff, President and CEO of FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression), and Genevieve Lakier, a First Amendment scholar and Vice President of the UChicago Chapter of the AAUP (American Association of University Professors). Both distinguished speakers will share their perspectives on the implications of these recent developments and explore potential strategies for defending academic freedom in these turbulent times. Attendees will also have ample opportunity to engage in a larger conversation.
