Distinguished Clinician Award

The objective of this award is to recognize highly talented members of our faculty for their clinical excellence. Each faculty member may nominate one faculty member in this award category.

 

Nominations are open until May 7th 2024!

  • One Junior Faculty Award: Instructors, Assistant Professors, early Associate Professors (4yrs or less)
  • One Senior Faculty Award: Late Associate (more than 4 years) or Full Professors

Eligibility

  • Individuals are to be nominated for outstanding clinical contributions.
  • To be nominated for achievements in a clinician capacity, the faculty member must provide clinical care directly or be involved in providing clinical services.
  • The nominee must be a current member of the employed (non-voluntary) faculty at the University of Chicago and hold their primary appointment in a BSD department.
  • The achievements for which the candidate is being nominated must have occurred while a faculty member at the University of Chicago.
  • While the body of work is important, the committee will primarily focus on accomplishments during the past 18 – 24 months.
  • Current elected members of the Faculty Advisory Committee are ineligiblesee list of members here.

Nominee’s CV

    • Highlighted with activities and achievements that are relevant to this award

Nomination Letter (250-500 words) stating the basis for the nomination, that may include:

    • Current reputation for medical expertise and clinical excellence
    • Leadership in clinical practice committees
    • Contributions to and leadership in Quality Improvement efforts
    • Evidence (awards, leadership, etc.) as an Extramural clinical educator
    • Development of innovative clinical programs
    • Clinically oriented peer-reviewed publications
    • Clinical Citizenship: e.g., advocacy, devotion and compassion for patients
