Triage

1. Weigh and measure in three dimensions
2. Take gross photo of intact specimen
3. Ink the outer surface
4. Remember lymphoma work-up if lymphoma is suspected!
5. If large specimen, section
6. Photograph cut section
7. Fix in formalin

Gross

1. Consult with Thoracic Fellow
2. Serially section, noting lesional tissue versus normal parenchyma
3. Measure lesion in three dimensions and measure distance to margin
4. Dissect for lymph nodes in adjacent soft tissue
5. Submit one section per centimeter of tumor
6. Submit representative normal, if present
